Festa Junina

A month of bonfires, folk dances, and classic corn-based sweets.

Every June, Brazil lights up with Festa Junina — a month-long celebration of rural life, bonfires, dancing, and an irresistible lineup of traditional sweets. Stalls offer pamonha, pé-de-moleque, canjica, and caramelized corn cakes, each one tied to harvest traditions.
Children dress in rural costumes, dance quadrilha, and run from treat to treat, while adults gather around steaming pots of sweet corn desserts and peanut candies that taste both rustic and comforting. Festa Junina is dessert as nostalgia, dessert as celebration, dessert as community.
