About

A creative path paved in sugar and syntax.

Universo da Doçura is a global dessert platform built on the premise that confectionery is one of the most reliable records of human history. Trade routes, colonial economies, religious calendars, migration patterns, and agricultural systems all leave traces in what a culture makes sweet and how. This project takes that seriously.

The site documents desserts across more than fifty locales — from the convent kitchens of Castile to the night markets of Taiwan, from the millet puddings of Senegal to the ceremonial cakes of the Ukrainian Orthodox calendar. Each locale page is researched for historical accuracy, audited for cultural specificity, and written to reflect what actually shaped a food tradition rather than what sounds appealing about it. Purple prose is not welcome here. Neither are elephants on Ghana’s page.

The dessert images are ligne claire illustrations, each one developed through carefully crafted prompts and refined until the line work and color felt true to the confection itself. A lamington is not photographed; it is rendered in the visual language of what it contains and where it comes from. The same standard applied to the writing applies here: no shorthand, no cliché, no borrowed imagery.

The Pastry Artisans are the heart of the platform — 54 original characters, each one a vinyl-style toy artisan representing a specific dessert tradition. They are designed with the same care applied to the copy: culturally grounded, visually specific, and built without stereotypes.

This is an independent project — researched, written, designed, and built by one person. It is also unfinished, which is the point. There are always more locales, more desserts, more histories to get right.
